I'm from the Country...

Well, not technically, but my whole family is, so I spent the last week in the country visiting all of them. The "country" was in the West Kootenay's in a small community called Trail. Many of my family members live there and in the close surrounding areas.

Much time was spent visiting with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts, cousins, cousins kids, cousins grandparents etc!

I greatly enjoyed my time running around in the grass at my aunt and uncles house chasing my cousins twin girls around the farm! We looked at the Moo Moo's and cockle doodle doo's. We drank Huckleberry beer and ate corn on the cob.

Dirt roads still exist in the country. Many people don't have paved drive ways. My aunt and uncle live in a part of Rossland named Happy Valley....doesn't that sound like a relaxing place??

Life is much simpler in the country I have discovered. Their "mall" has about 12 stores. They have one automatic car wash at a gas station and we took my grandparents van through it for the first time, much to my nana's amazement at the "moving machine". You can rent a movie at your local gas station/coffee shop/ice cream parlor/movie store extraordinaire. Traffic in Trail is when there are more than 20 cars on the same road at the same time, or you meet another car head on at the only flashing stop light in town in Rossland.

All in all, my week in the country was relaxing and very enjoyable, filled with much family time, good food, good weather, and great fun. It is really too bad that my visits to the country are so short and only happen a couple times a year.
